When Fred Siegel saw a lady turn into a gorilla at Million Dollar Pier, the magic bug bit hard. After wearing out decks of magic cards, sponge bunnies, and a Crystal Silk Cylinder, he bought five hundred business cards with ten dollars of his Bar Mitzvah money. After learning the ropes (and the rings) from an aging mentor in a dank, second-floor magic shop, he performed countless shows in basements, party rooms, and community centers. While working on his doctoral dissertation, The Vaudeville Magic Act 1880-1932 at NYU, he shared the platform with the Anatomical Wonder, The Fire Manipulator, and the Human Cigarette Factory at the Coney Island Sideshow. Soon, he married a mind reading memory expert, appeared in two comic ballets, and performed as an actor, singer, and improviser in ComedySportz Philly, Sidequest Theater, and Tongue & Groove. His magical memoir show, Man of Mystery, has been a hit in a number of venues, including the Philly Fringe, and with his memory expert spouse, her mind reading sister, and his comedy brother-in-law, he has performed Fred's Magic World at many venues including the original and fabulous Smoke and Mirrors Magic Theater in Huntingdon Valley, PA.
