The Official Houdini Séance

Harry Houdini passed on October 31, 1926 at 1:26 pm. Houdini’s Wife Bess conducted a séance every year on the anniversary of his death for ten years before she gave up the ghost, so to speak. Every year after that, many fraudulent mediums came forth to claim they contacted Houdini.
Walter B. Gibson, Houdini’s “ghostwriter” decided to put a stop to those activities and once again hold an “Official” séance. He carried on for many years until Dick Brooks and Dorothy Dietrich opened The Magic Towne House in NYC. In 1976, with Gibson’s blessing, they took up the mantle and conducted their first Houdini Séance.
When Dick and Dorothy close the Towne House, they moved to Scranton, PA and opened the Houdini Museum. Every year, they have continued to conduct this séance. This year, being the 100th anniversary of Houdini’s death, there is a major séance that will take place at 1:26 at Houdini’s last residence in NYC. It is open to the public at a very high price. Dorothy will be conducting that séance…However!
After that séance is over, she and Dick will travel to Glenside, PA. After the 8:00 show by John Bundy and Morgan, Dorothy will act as medium for a special séance at House of Magic. Please understand that this is not a theatrical event; it is a real séance. Any manifestations that occur will be the real thing, not a special effect or magic trick. The seances she has conducted over the years have been just that and yet there has been a history of strange, unexplained occurrences. In addition, she will be bringing many original Houdini artifacts from the museum for use during the séance.
And the cost? It is included in the price of your ticket for the show that night. This will only be done in conjunction with the Saturday Night show on October 31st. Remember that the President and President Elect of the Society of American Magicians will conduct a very special Broken Wand Ceremony prior to the show, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Houdini’s passing. After the show we will take a 15 minute break and then conduct the séance. We estimate it should run about 25 to 30 minutes, unless Harry decides he wants to stay for a while.
